“You can’t calm the storm.. so stop trying. What you can do is calm yourself. The storm will pass.” This quote couldn’t have better described Morgan & Chandler’s big day. Ironically, this nature loving couple had to postpone their original wedding day due to hurricane Florence. Stick these two in the outdoors and you’ll find that they fit in just fine. Although, they would prefer to stay dry!!
Florence caused TSE some big headaches too. It was a two wedding weekend but with cancellations being pushed to our future weekends they not collided with events already planned in advance. Flo caused us to do a ton of creative thinking, problem solving and calling in favors. We immediately began rescheduling the vendors or finding new ones. We covered all the events but reached out to House of Oak to cover Morgan and Chandler’s reschedule. House of Oak graciously took over the day of coordinating and handled everything that went along with it. Despite not being able to attend in person, we knew that Morgan & Chandler would be in great hands and that their day would be perfect, just as we planned all along.
Their wedding took place at Greenbrier Farms, a 93 year old tree and landscaping farm. The advantage of having such a variety of established trees is that they are plentiful and beautiful not to mention they provide shade and privacy.
The bridal party had a sleepover in the vintage farm house on the property. The age old features added to the rustic feel of the land. In the morning the ladies were served crepes by the father of the bride<3 The ceremony was tranquil and intimate. They chose a raw piece of land with generous open space but surrounded by tall trees. With lots of opulent flowers, a lush backdrop of tall trees plus the perfect color scheme, Morgan’s boho wedding dream came to life. The bride and groom chose to rent our circular arch which was decorated to perfection by The Wandering Petal.
It was so obvious that this couple is head over heels for each other. Marriage is a huge commitment and at a young age however, they weren’t blind to the challenges that lay ahead. They know marriage will require them to continually choose to be committed. They proved this in the most significant way. They took time to wash each other’s feet, just as Jesus did with His disciples as a symbol of His devotion. They chose to make a promise to always put each other first.
There were so many special moments throughout the day. Including when Morgan sang her way down the aisle to her dream man. Music seemed to be a common talent between the families, as Chandler can play the guitar and Morgan’s dad had a special recording of him singing their song for the father daughter dance.
The reception was just a short walking distance away from the ceremony where a magnificent tent was set up with chandeliers and lights strung everywhere. The tent was open so that everyone was surrounded by nature.
There was furniture set up outside of the tent for people to gather, make stores and look up at the stars. The bartenders kept the open bar moving and the guests enjoyed some fabulous food from Hightide Catering.
Even though we had to reschedule the major event because of the hurricane, TSE and House of Oak made it look like it was always suppose to be this way. The guests didn’t seem to notice and on this night the skies were clear and there was an unbelievable amount of love that surrounded the newlyweds.
