Many people are changing wedding dates, making adjustments and having to do without the physical presence of family and friends on their big day. But even though our bride Madison and groom Tony moved their wedding date it wasn’t due to the pandemic. Quite the contrary, Tony’s father had been battling cancer. The possibility of not having his dad by his side as the best man made for an easy decision to move the wedding day. So their original date in the fall of 2020 became March 2020.
Madison’s mom is a retired wedding planner so Madison chose us for day of coordination. Her mother was very organized, did a lot of the selections and was a pleasure to work with as we coordinated the vintage romantic feel they envisioned.
Madison’s favorite color is lilac so we planned this accent color throughout the ceremony and reception. The Cavalier as a wedding venue was perfect for the style that they were going for, a mixture of modern with a vintage feel.
While the bridal party was getting ready at the venue, the Loggia Room was being transformed for the ceremony. The room already has a lot of natural charm so we made some slight enhancements and pulled everything together by tying beautiful sashes to the back of each ceremony chair.
During the ceremony a guitarist played romantic melodies. As Tony and his father stood together, a son and his best man, it was not lost on their family and friends just how special this moment was. Tears flowed and time stood still for just a brief moment.
Tony’s two nieces were the perfect flower girls and his nephew was a perfect ring bearer. The bridesmaids wore lilac dresses. This subtle hue was both classic and elegant.
A single rose was placed on a chair at the entry point where Madison came into the ceremony. Seeing the rose as soon as she stepped into the aisle was a sweet reminder of Madison’s aunt who had passed away.
The whole ceremony was very sweet and their value of relationship was evident as they took time to honor those who are important to them.
Personal touches continued in the reception as the bridal party did not enter in a traditional way. Instead of playing music or letting the DJ announce each one, as the bridal party entered the reception the mother of the bride explained how each of them knew the bride.
Madison and Tony have so much love for their dogs that they made sure to acknowledge them on their big day. They included a dog treat bar in the reception to show their love for them!
Their love for relationship and each other continued with even more meaningful moments like the surprise dance Madison did with her father-in-law. This was a moment they expressed was very important to them. If that did not get the waterworks flowing, this next thing did. Tony’s parents danced to their first dance song from their wedding. Special memories were being created and recreated. What a beautiful legacy.
Along with all of the emotional moments throughout their big day, the family made sure to incorporate some laughs. Tony is terrified of clowns so they played scary clown music and surprised him with a scary clown cake as his groom’s cake! It definitely made things more lighthearted as the night went on. Their friends and family captured moments in time as they enjoyed the photo booth during the reception.
As the guests gathered for the sendoff they were given sparklers. They did the classic sparkler exit with all of their guests holding sparklers and creating a path for them to walk through. Their parting gesture was to slip safely into Madison’s father’s vintage red pickup truck and drive off into the landscape toward their happily-ever-after.
Your valiant fight will never be forgotten. You loved well so your legacy will live on in all of those whom you share your heart with. Rest in peace Mr.
